Nowadays, due to Covid-19, it's difficult to carry out plans due to the number of restrictions. Even so, we have the option to do an excursion with our family to discover magical places in Mallorca.

THE BEST EXCURSION ‘SALT DES FREU’:

Area: Orient, Serra de Tramuntana.

Minimum age: 4 years.

You start: Km. 8.5 of the road from Bunyola to Alaró, a few kilometers before reaching Orient.

Difficulty: low.

Duration: 40 minutes.

Parking: The car will have to park on the side of the road. There is no parking enabled.

Baby stroller: No, the terrain is usually stony and muddy. We recommend a baby carrier and it is very easy for those children who are already walking.

Baby carrier: Yes.

One of the most beautiful, easy, and at the same time spectacular excursions to do as a family in Mallorca, is the Salt des Freu. A circular round trip without loss to enjoy with the family that idyllic landscape that alternates stone path, views of herds of sheep, streams.

A relatively easy excursion because the entire excursion is practically flat, older children can be carried without problem (or holding hands) and babies and little ones in baby carriers or backpack.

START OF OUR EXCURSION

Very easy. You have to go (coming from Palma) to Bunyola, from there towards Orient and at km 8.5 of that road you will see that on the right hand side there is a wooden sign that indicates Santa Maria 2h 40min. But let's not be scared to get to Salt des Freu is only about 20 minutes walking.

Once the path ends, we come to a small fence with a ladder, which will leave us at the foot of a small stream that, depending on the time of year, has more or less water, it will depend on whether it is more or less easy to cross the other side.

This part is the favorite of the children since you have to go jumping from stone to stone to avoid getting wet, it is the muddy area of the land and where your children will enjoy the most.

ARRIVAL AT THE ‘SALT DES FREU’

Once we have crossed we have already arrived and the well-known 'Salt des Freu' is a few meters away following a path that goes down.

We can see it from the top and then go down the slope little by little to enjoy different views until we reach the bottom.

This is usually the busiest area and where the best photographs are taken. Even if we are lucky we can see specialized hikers making the descent of this.

TO GET BACK TO THE PARKING

The way to be back and forth there is no place to lose. The return is exactly the same as the departure but in reverse.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF PANDA WORLD

As it is a fairly humid place, suitable footwear is recommended for the whole family, in times of rain the stony ground is usually quite humid in addition to the existence of mud which is the most fun for children. Therefore, for the little ones warm clothing is advisable.

We recommend the baby carrier and the backpack but not the use of the stroller since the road will not be easy. For those children who are already walking it will not be a problem and they will enjoy the landscape and the natural environment as much as we do.
